I had the honor of photographing the jazz legend, Herbie Hancock and his quartet, last week for UNCG's concert series at the auditorium on Tate St. I had access to the entire venue which gave me tons of awesome vantage points to work with.
"Herbert Jeffrey Hancock is an American pianist, keyboardist, bandleader, composer and actor. Hancock started his career with Donald Byrd. He shortly thereafter joined the Miles Davis Quintet where he helped to redefine the role of a jazz rhythm section and was one of the primary architects of the post-bop sound." – Wikipedia
I have had the opportunity to photograph some big-time celebrities over the years but this one was extra special due to being a big jazz fan and past trumpet player back in high school and college days. Special event photography truly is one of my favorite things to capture because of the importance of the event and to memorialize the moment in time. Herbie Hancock is one of the biggest names in jazz music and continues to travel the world at the age of 78.
