I had the opportunity to photograph the July edition of the GAA Classic Cars auction a few weeks back. I was there to document the event for the GAA Classic Cars on a Saturday afternoon to photograph the most impressive cars of the multi-day event. Towards the end of the coverage I was able to photograph an important segment where Olympic gold medalist Scott Hamilton spoke about his important non profit, the CARES foundation. He speaks at events and continues to spread the word and important work he does for the cancer research community.
The marketing specialist for the GAA Classic Cars contacted my studio a few months back to inquire about hiring Micciche Photography for their July auction. They host a few massive car shows each year and I look forward to helping them with more events in 2021. I was given full access to the venue which allowed me to capture some unique angles throughout the building, up in the sky box and even behind the stage. In the auction world they call the stage the block, which is where all the cars roll through and are auctioned off within two to three minutes each. The special event coverage was fast paced for sure and I captured tons of awesome expressions of the staff and bidders as well as some beautiful classic cars.
One of the most impressive cars that went up for auction was an antique Corvette fully loaded and went for $192k. I had a few minutes to photograph the car before it went across the block and got a great candid shot of the winner of the car up by the front row of the auction.
I was at the event for four hours making sure to capture all the important moments and was sure to use almost every lens in my bag to provide the GAA Classic Cars a solid variety of images to use moving forward for marketing their business. They can use these shots to continue to make each event successful with high quality images for the high quality cars they sell.
Legendary figure skater Scott Hamilton also had an opportunity to speak to the crowd about his non profit called the CARES Foundation. This gave the attendees a chance to donate to his amazing cause to help with cancer research and additional exposure.
